Wild for Wet n Wild

Ever since I was a young teenage girl, my heart skipped a beat when walking towards the Wet n Wild makeup section in my local drugstore. Wet n Wild was my Mac in those days and actually still is. Especially now with the release of there Color Icon products. The quality and color pay off is fantastic. The eyeshadow quads are gorgeous, the blushes have good staying power and the lipsticks are not drying. I was tickled pink to hear through the great vine that they are releasing The Color Icon Collection which includes an 8 pan palette. If past palettes are any indication of which we are in store for then I am one excited beauty blogger! The fact that you can get such good quality makeup for such an affordable price is amazing. Wet n Wild has certainly taken notice of there new found popularity amongst beauty bloggers and gurus. Which is why I think they have stepped up there game and are producing such great products. I for one will be first in line for there upcoming new collection. Some of the names for these new products have T.V show inspired names such as, Everybody loves Redmond, The Gold & The Beautiful, 9.0.2.1.0. Orange and Saved by the Blue. How brilliant are those names. Kudos Wet n Wild for a job well done... What are your favorite Wet n Wild products? What do you think about there new products?

The best book I have ever read!

Okay so this book is not beauty related but it's better. I am an avid reader. I go through two to three books a week. I like reading books on alternative medicine and self help books. This books far exceeded my expectations. It has changed my life! It is from New York Times best selling author Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. The book is called, The Power of Intention-Learning to co-create the world your way. I have been blown away by this book. It teaches you that everything in the universe has intention built into it.This is true for all life forms, whether it be an animal or a rose-bush. Intention grows fingernails, it beats ones heart, digest food and writes this post. It does this for everyone and everything in the universe. This book teaches you to tap into the power of intent to live a life free of fear but instead a life of endless possibilities. I will give you a sample of some of the quotes from the book and give you a link to Dr. Wayne Dyer's website. This is an amazing book that I am sure will blow you away too. I was not sent this book, it was given to me as a wedding present 5 years ago and I just recently read it. I wish I would of read it sooner. Here are the quotes:

"Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change".

"You were intended out of love; you must be love in order to intend".

"You must match intention's attributes with your own in order to capitalize on those powers in your life".

"If you're experiencing scarcity, anguish, depression, an absence of love, or any inability to attract what you desire, seriously look at how you've been attracting these circumstances into your life."

"That which offends your only weakens you".

"If life is not infinite, then it is not life".

Charlies Angels, Dynasty, Falcon Crest era in makeup

I don't know about you but there was something so captivating about the late 70's and 80's era in makeup on T.V. There was something about Jacklyn Smith's makeup on Charlies Angels that really inspired me. It was soft and warm yet alluring. Farrah Fawcett always looked sun kissed and bronzed. Joan Collins makeup on Dynasty was intense yet very feminine. I loved that era in makeup. I remember lots of nude, corals, russet lips paired with copper and rich chocolate brown eye shadows and very warm cheeks. Then there were the bronze goddesses like Farrah and Heather Locklear. There look was bronzed skin, warm cheeks, nude lips, liner and big feathery lashes. They all seemed to have that lit from within glow to there faces. I till this day think this was the best era in makeup. I will be doing a Jacklyn Smith makeup look that I will be posting soon. What was your favorite era in makeup?

Adult Acne and my mission to cure it!

I have been dealing with bouts of acne since I am 22 years old. It started in my early twenties instead of my teen years. I have studied and researched every book, magazine, article and website out there. I remember sitting in Barnes and Nobles in the village in NYC for hours buried in books sipping my green tea. I would jot down every bit of advice and tips I thought would be helpful to me. I have learned a lot of knowledge on this topic. I know now that acne is a chronic disease that cannot be cured. Although if you deal with all the components of the disease it can be managed. Lets start with what causes acne first. Acne is an overproduction of sebum which in turn clogs pores. Secondly, bacterial which normally lives on the skin, P. acnes, thrive in excess oil. Immersed in excess oil, the bacteria can rapidly grow in number. As the bacteria multiply in a clogged pore, the pore becomes inflamed. Inflammation is what causes the pimple to look red, hot and swollen. Thirdly, acne is also a result of an abnormal keratinization. A build up of dead cells in the pore from inadequate exfoliation of skin. So our target is to address all the above. I can tell you by experience it's not a perfect science. You also must address your diet, hormones, stress and environment. I will be starting a series on how to manage and ultimately cure adult acne. I have not cured my acne yet but I am on a mission to and I hope you will follow along with me. Lets start first with supplements that I have found helpful.

There are supplements to look for to help acne which are, Omega-3 Fatty acids found in fish oils or flax seeds, Zinc helps regulate oil glands and helps heal wounds faster( do not exceed 50 mg a day to avoid toxicity), B Complex vitamins (help reduce stress and normalize oil production), vitamin A normalizes the keratinization process reducing clogged pores(10,000 IU daily for 2weeks, then reduce to 5,000. You could also use herbs to help with acne. Probiotics which you could get from yogurt or in supplement form. I suggest if you are going to take a supplement the best are refrigerated, you could purchase them at the Vitamin Shoppe. You could also try herbs in healing and preventing acne. Burdock Root, dandelion leaves, milk thistle, adn red clover are good for acne. Burdock Root and red clover are blood cleansers. Milk thistle aids the liver in cleansing the blood. Burdock and dandelion also contain inulin, which can improve the quality of skin by removing bacteria. You can also brew these herbs in teas and if you all follow me you know I am a tea fanatic. Why not help your acne while enjoying a relaxing cup of tea. The next part of this series I will be addressing is diet. Diet plays a very important role in how are skin functions. Studies are now finding that there is a direct link to acne and what you eat. I also will be discussing what skincare products to use and what to avoid. I look forward to writing this series and would love to hear your feedback and your stories with acne.

The Face Master- Facial Toning System

First I would like to say I have not been paid by this company for my opinion and have not been sent this product. I have been reading Suzanne Somers book Ageless and I am loving it. It's a how to book on slowing the aging process. It also discusses bioidentical hormones which helps alleviate if not stops the symptoms of menopause. No, I am not going through menopause, far from it. Suzanne Somers is 60 and looks amazing so I am interested in what are ageless tips are. In the book she introduces her little secret to tight, wrinkle free skin. It's called The Face Master-Facial Toning System. This system is was used in spas with a huge high tech machine costing 12,000. The treatments alone were 150.00 a pop. Suzanne Somers and her team of experts, Peter Hanson M.D who operates a medical practice in Denver, Colorodo where he specializes in Medical Acupuncture, developing techniques in treating, among many other conditions, paralysis. Also among the team is Rodger Mohme, a lead engineer to develop the Apple Power Book. There goal was to take a machine like the one used in spas and miniaturize it in to a small easy to use at home treatment. The Face Master uses Micro-current electricity to stimulate the 22 muscles of the face, which plumps up the muscles. Plumping the muscle with the Face Master keeps the muscle toned and tight for an uplifted look and more youthful appearance. "When we age it's actually sagging muscles that creates wrinkles", explains Dr. Peter Hanson.

I personally am going to try this. A lot of skincare companies including Neutrogena, Lancome and Aveeno have used this Micro-current technology in there skincare. Either these companies are on to something or this is a gimmick. I am willing to be a guinea pig! This system sounds promising and hey it's cute little snorting Chrissy Snow behind it so how bad could it be right?

What do you think? Would you try this system?

I am a New Beauty Influencer!

Okay so you all no I am obsessed with beauty magazines, right? Well New Beauty Magazine is the holy grail of beauty magazines. The magazine has information on all the new skincare treatments such as lasers, fillers, plastic surgery, skin care products, nutrition for beautiful skin, all the latest beauty supplements, a list of the best plastic surgeons and dermatologist. It really is in my opinion the best beauty magazine out there. It only comes out 4 times a year and is a little pricey at $10.00 which is it's only downfall. I have been invited to join there team of New Beauty Influencers. As a beauty influencer I receive all the latest skincare products and makeup to review for New Beauty Magazine. My reviews also may be featured in New Beauty Magazine! I can't tell you how excited I am. When you have a passion you love so much and others take notice it's extremely rewarding. I was just sent the Olay ProX Deep Wrinkle Protocol. I have only used it for a week so it's not ready to be reviewed yet. So far it has been very moisturizing and fine lines have been plumped. Nothing fantastic is happening to my skin yet to be honest. I will be doing a review on that in a couple of weeks. Have a great weekend everyone.

Pretty in Pink's Honorable Mention( Kinerase Restructure Firming Eye Cream

If I could sum up how I feel about this eye cream in two words, it would be holy cow! I have bought many eye creams home with me with hope that my tired little eyes would once again be brightend, firmed and soothed only to be let down. Well girls and boys, I have found my soul mate. My little miracle has fallen upon me in all it's firming and brightening glory.

This is what it claims to do:
This silky treatment visibly and safely transforms the delicate eye area with elastin strengthening technology, along side clinically proven anti-fighting Kinetin to deliver resilience and a dramatically more youthful look. It goes beyond building collagen to target critical elastin protein coils and leaves skin lifted and toned, and expression lines erased and smoothed.

This is what it does:
Exactly what it claims to do! My eyes haven't looked this bright, firm and fresh since high school. This eye cream is truly my savior. It really does firm the eye area especially the upper eyelid which tends to droop due to age and genetics. Girls you have my word that this is the most amazing eye cream I have ever used.

It's formulated with:
-Kinetin: Retains moisture in the skin
-LOXL enzyme stimulator: Reinforces elastin to lift and firm
-Multiaction SNAP-8, Argireline and Leuphasyl Peptide Complex: Reduces the look of wrinkles

What it's formulated without:
-Parabens
-Sulfates
-GMOS
-Triclosan

I definitely recommend this product for anyone looking to gain that youthful appearance to there eyes.

Juara Skincare

I was contacted by Juara Skincare to do a review on there products which are inspired by Indonesian Botanicals. The products are free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and artificial colorants. There 100% vegetarian and do no test on animals. I was sent there Rice Facial Cleanser, Rice Facial Scrub, Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner and Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer (oil-free). I was very pleased with these products. These products are truly a breath of fresh air. There was no irritation associated with these products which is a key factor for me. There was no overpowering fragrances that you some times find with organic skincare products. Here is a breakdown of what each product claims it does and how it worked for me.

1. Rice Facial Cleanser: A sulfate free foaming cleanser and makeup remover that evokes a rice water rinse traditional in Indonesia and leaves skin soft and supple. For all skin types, including sensitive.
-This was my favorite product. I have a very hard time finding a facial wash that doesn't strip the moisture from my skin. This product washed away makeup and dirt effortlessly while leaving my skin super soft. It also had a brightening effect as well. It never irritated my skin or broke me out. This is my new holy grail product.
The rice water soothed my skin and actually calmed the redness in my skin, which is a big problem for me. I would say I definitely recommend this product.

2. Rice Facial Scrub: This product combines the skin conditioning effect of rice protein and perfectly round, fine exfoliating beads, this scrub leaves skin feeling significantly smoother with pores less noticeable. For all skin types.
- I found this product to be a pampering treatment. The beads are perfectly rounded and it did exfoliate well. I would recommend only using it once or twice a week because you never want to over exfoliate your skin. It's a good exfoliater that doesn't cause irritation. This product also had a brightening effect.

3. Tamarind Tea Hydrating Toner: Also known as " The Skin Quencher," this unique, alcohol-free, oil free toner-serum combines skin-smoothing tamarind and hydrating hyaluronic acid with a soothing infusion of antioxidant rich teas and calming rice bran extract. For all skin types.
- This toner was hydrating and calming. It didn't seem to do what most toners are meant to do which is take off any remaining dirt and makeup left over from washing our face. It was really a softening lotion to me. This is a nice product if your jet lagged or feel dehydrated. This product is a very soothing and softening .

4. Sweet Black Tea & Ginger Mattefying Moisturizer (oil-free):
This light gel-creme combines the age-defying and radiance boosting benefits of Sweet Black Tea with the shine-reducing and purifying properties of ginger and cinnamon for a luminous matte finish. For oily to combination skin.
- This product was a hit or miss for me. I liked it when it first went on because of the mattifying effect. It smoothed my skin nicely for my foundation application. The only gripe I had with this product is it was a little drying. I feel this product would work for someone with really oily skin. It is an overall nice mattifying moisturizer.
Overall I think this is a great skincare line. I have yet to try there masks which I have done some research on and have heard nothing but accolades. They also offer products for the body such as body washes, gels and lotions. They also offer perfume oils that sound yummy such as Tiare Jasmine Perfume oil, I am a sucker for anything with jasmine. I really like this brand and the science behind it. It's the ancient tradition of Indonesia beauty rituals meets moderns science. I definitely recommend looking in to these products. Let me know if you have tried or would like to try these products and what you think? You could find these products and others at
Juara Skincare

It's My Birthday!

Today is my birthday! It's bittersweet because today I turned 37 yrs old. Oh please let it just be a dream, I can't be 37 already. I was just 25 a New York minute ago. I have succumbed to the inevitable, I am getting older. Well, let's see do I feel old? The answer truly is no. Do I feel wiser? I must say I don't get stressed over situations like I use to in my twenties. I guess I have learned to grab the trolley straps and enjoy the ride. To keep with the subject of beauty, I will fight to the death every wrinkly little enemy that has the audacity to try to invade on my facial territory! Forget diamonds, Retin-A is truly a girls best friend. On that note, as the saying goes, "Let them eat cake"! Happy Birthday to me!

FOTD; Fresh for Fall

I am wearing Bare Minerals Foundation in Fairly Light, Revlon's Eyeshadow Quad in Coffee Bean, NYX Gray Eyeliner, Loreal Voluminous Mascara in black, NYC Bronzer in Sunny, Covergirl Blush in Plumberry Glow, Jordana Lip liner in Baby Berry and Maybeline Moisture Whip Lipstick in Sugar Plum Ice with a mix of the Covergirl Blush Plumberry Glow. A little trick of mine is after applying my lipstick I dab a little of the blush I am using on my lips. It really makes your blush pop.

Look what I got at the dollar store!

I was very excited to see that the Dollar Tree has a whole new section of really good makeup. Usually the only thing you will find is some out dated makeup from unknown makeup brands. To my surprise they had Maybeline Mineral Blushes, Revlon Liners, Almay Pure Eye shadows, Maybeline Eye shadows, NYC Lipsticks, Almay Pure Foundation and more that I have to investigate. If you walk into a CVS these products are on display now for regular price. I feel like I hit a home run to say the least. If you ad up what I got at the Dollar Tree at regular price at CVS it comes to 55.00. Now I only payed 8.00 at the Dollar Tree. They had so much more but I didn't have the time to go through it all. I will be back this week and update you on what else they have. Get to your local Dollar Tree, I guarantee you will feel like you hit a home run too! Do you know of any stores that sell makeup for dirt cheap? I would love to know!

Loreal Collagen Micro Pulse Total Eye Correcting System

When I first laid my eyes on the Loreal Collagen Micro Pulse System, it reminded me of something I am too ladylike to say. Let's just say us girls know what I'm talking about. My CVS Beauty Advisor walked me over to the display to show me the new innovative product from Loreal. We both giggled when feeling the pulsing vibration of this strong little device. I wondered if this was gentle for the delicate eye area. There are tiny little capillaries under our eyes that break from rubbing your eyes to hard, or when taking off makeup, so I wasn't sure if this was to safe to use. I am interested to see how this product works. I will let you know as soon as I review it. I am adding a new edition to my blog, where I will be interviewing my local CVS Beauty Advisor twice a month about her favorite makeup and skincare items of the moment. She will also be letting me in on some insider tips she learns at the beauty conventions CVS sends her to. She hooks me up with all the best deals in beauty. I will be letting you in on those deals as well. I absolutely adore her, she really knows her stuff. CVS has come along way in there beauty department and I am loving every minute of it.

My fiery obsession with red hair

Ever since I was a little girl I have been obsessed and mesmerized with red hair. It's so unique and beautiful. Red hair is so warm and inviting yet fiery and rebellious. There are different shades of red. The shades vary between copper, auburn, chestnut and strawberry blonde. Red hair brings such warmth to your skin and brightens your eyes. Think Julia Roberts in Pretty Women, I was obsessed with that movie to say the least. She didn't just have red hair, she had big red hair. When I think redhead I think bombshell, think Jessica Rabbit. I've had black, brown and blonde hair but when I'm a redhead is when I feel most attractive. I feel invigorated and warm like sitting in front of the fireplace on a cool fall day. I can smell that pumpkin pie baking now. What do you think about red hair. Would you ever consider ever going red. Is there a red headed celebrity you admire, I would love to know.
